Vote yes on August 4th on Proposition 1

Building a better community

Over the past 40 years, you, the voters, took responsibility in making Jefferson City a better community. You used the 1/2 cent capital improvement sales tax to do so. Let’s continue to improve Jefferson City and renew the 1/2 sales tax for ten more years.

Vote ‘YES’ on August 4th on Proposition 1.

economic impact

A tax that brings revenue into a community that is spent for “investment” like purposes will reduce the cost of the “investment” and will have an impact upon the employment of that community. For example, the University of Missouri Extension Service estimates over 1/3 of the sales tax revenue comes from outside Cole County because of the regional status of our shopping facilities.

Using this formula, around $25 million of the sales tax revenue should be generated by the 2027-2037 sales tax from outside our city.
